Moving day gets all the attention, but the cleanout afterward — flattened boxes, packing material, furniture that didn’t make the cut — is its own project. Here’s a simple way to handle it.

At your old place: security deposit considerations

If you’re a renter, most leases require the unit left broom-clean with nothing left behind. A dumpster ordered for your move-out day handles leftover furniture, trash, and anything you’re not taking, and gives you documentation (via our invoice) that debris was properly removed if there’s ever a deposit dispute.

At your new place: packing material adds up fast

Cardboard boxes, packing paper, and bubble wrap from a full-house move are bulkier than they seem once flattened and piled. A significant portion breaks down for recycling, but a lot of moving-specific material (packing peanuts, damaged boxes, furniture blankets that didn’t survive) doesn’t — a small dumpster clears it in one pass instead of weeks of curbside recycling pickups.
