What counts as yard waste

Grass clippings, leaves, small branches and brush, plant trimmings, and garden waste. Larger tree limbs, stumps, and sod are generally fine in a rental dumpster but can affect weight calculations — wet sod and dirt-heavy root balls are much denser than they look.

Curbside yard waste collection vs. a dumpster

Pressure-treated lumber from an old deck or fence, along with railroad ties, is typically fine to include with construction debris in a dumpster but should not be burned or mixed into mulch — flag it when booking if it’s a large portion of your load.
